How much do DoorDash fees cost a restaurant?

Every app order loses a commission before we see the money.

As of September 2026, DoorDash takes 15, 25 or 30 percent of a delivery order's subtotal by plan, and Uber Eats fees for restaurants run 20, 25 or 30 percent. Grubhub lists a marketing commission of 5, 15 or 20 percent, delivery fees from 10 percent, and card processing on top. Set that against your margin on a meal to see what the order leaves you.

Customers reorder through the app, so we pay again each time.

The customer's account, saved card and reorder button all belong to the app, so every repeat order pays the commission again. An order placed on your own site pays card processing and no commission, and the regular can repeat it from their account. The Daily Press keeps each customer's past orders on its own site, and adds points toward free drinks and pastries.

We raised our app menu prices to cover the cut.

DoorDash's own pricing page notes that restaurants can set different prices for delivery orders, and that many do. As of September 2026, Uber Eats charges 7 percent on pickup only with proof that app prices match your counter, and 10 percent without it. Your own site can show counter prices, because no commission comes off the top, and one menu there means a price changes once.

A tablet for every app crowds the counter at rush.

Without a point-of-sale connection, each app sends orders to its own tablet or dashboard, so the counter juggles screens while the line waits, and every menu change is made several times. DoorDash lists its tablet at $6 a week after the trial, as of September 2026. Keeping one app for delivery reach and taking pickup and regulars on your own site means fewer screens and fewer menus to keep in step.

Delivery app fee questions.

How much does DoorDash charge restaurants?

As of September 2026, DoorDash charges 15 percent of each delivery order's subtotal on Basic, 25 percent on Plus and 30 percent on Premier. Pickup orders cost 6 percent on every plan, provided your pickup menu prices match your in-store prices. DoorDash lists no monthly, signup or cancellation fee, and says its commission already covers card processing.

What are DoorDash fees for restaurants?

They are a commission on each order's subtotal, set by your plan. DoorDash says the commission pays for your listing and marketing in the app, delivery by its drivers, customer support and card processing. Its tablet, promotions and sponsored listings are optional extras. Orders through DoorDash's Online Ordering page carry no commission, only payment processing, listed at 2.9 percent plus 30 cents per order on its Starter package, as of September 2026.

Is DoorDash worth it for restaurants?

It pays when the orders are ones you would not have had otherwise, and costs you when regulars use it to order from you. DoorDash itself argues that its orders are often incremental. Check your own numbers: what a delivery order earns after the commission, and how many app orders come from people who already know you. Keep the app for reach, and give regulars a reason to order direct.

How do I avoid DoorDash fees?

Take orders on your own site, where you pay card processing and no commission. Tell regulars at the counter and on the receipt, and put the ordering link on your Google Business Profile. For delivery, a courier service can carry orders from your site for a fee per delivery; Uber Direct lists delivery from $7.99, as of September 2026. The Daily Press takes orders on its own site, even while closed.

What are Uber Eats fees?

As of September 2026, Uber Eats charges US restaurants a Marketplace Fee of 20 percent on Lite, 25 on Plus and 30 on Premium. Pickup orders carry 7 percent with validated in-store pricing, and self-delivery 15 percent. Uber lists lower Lite rates in some cities, and Plus and Premium start with 30 days at 0 percent.

How does Uber Eats work for merchants?

A restaurant lists its menu in the Uber Eats app, customers order there, and Uber handles payment and delivery for a fee per order. Higher plans cost more per order and, Uber says, show your store to customers with a lower delivery fee. Uber also sells Webshop, an ordering site of your own with no commission, at 2.5 percent plus 29 cents per order as of September 2026.

What is the difference between DoorDash and online pricing?

On DoorDash a restaurant can charge more for the same meal than on its own site, and DoorDash says many do. The app adds its delivery fee on top for the customer. On your own site you set one price, no commission comes off it, and the customer sees what they would pay at the counter. The Daily Press shows every price on its own menu.

Is Order Dot Online the same as DoorDash?

Yes: the order.online address is registered to DoorDash, Inc. DoorDash sells Online Ordering, a commission-free ordering page a restaurant links from its own website, and charges only payment processing on it. Orders there skip the app's commission, but the ordering system behind the page is still DoorDash's. An ordering page built into your own site belongs to you.
