Is Angi worth it for contractors?
Only if the jobs you win pay for every lead, including the ones that never answer.
Start a projectWhen is Angi worth it for contractors?
We pay for leads who never call back.
On Thumbtack, you pay when a customer who matches your job preferences reaches out, at the lead prices you set, whether or not they ever reply to your quote. A lead that goes quiet costs the same as one that hires you. Over a month, those quiet leads decide whether the platform pays.
Every lead is also comparing us with the other pros listed.
A lead platform's search page lists several pros for the same job, so the customer you paid for is weighing others, and speed or price tends to decide it. That pushes contractors to race each other to reply and to cut their quotes. A customer who reaches you through your own site or Google listing costs no fee per contact.
All our reviews sit on the platform's profile.
Reviews collected on a lead platform belong to that profile, and they stay there if you stop paying to advertise. Angi's own FAQ says businesses cannot remove their names from its site. Reviews on your Google Business Profile appear beside your listing in Maps and Search, on a profile you own.
When customers search our name, the platform shows up first.
Without a site and a verified Google listing of your own, the strongest page for your business name can be your profile on someone else's platform, with your competitors listed beside it. A site with a page for each service, and a Business Profile with the right categories, gives search your own pages to show for your name. We build and manage both.
What brings leads without a fee each.
- A page for every service you offer
- A Google listing with the right categories
- Reviews asked for after every job

What are Angi's costs for contractors?
Angi's own FAQ says service professionals pay to advertise on its site, but it lists no price. To advertise, a business with reviews must keep an average rating of three stars or higher. Angi Services, where Angi books the job itself, is a separate arrangement. Ask for your trade's rates in writing before you sign anything.
Are Angi leads profitable for contractors?
They are when the jobs won earn more than every lead fee behind them, which only your own records can show. Track each lead for a month: what it cost, whether the customer answered, whether they booked. Divide the month's spend by the jobs won to get a real cost per job, then compare it with the profit on an average job.
How does Angi compare to other contractor services?
Angi sells advertising to pros and books some jobs itself through Angi Services, while Thumbtack charges per lead at prices each pro sets. Both put you on a page beside competitors. The other route is leads that come to you directly, through your own site and Google Business Profile, where each contact carries no platform fee. A platform can fill quiet weeks while those grow.
Does Thumbtack charge for leads?
Yes: Thumbtack charges pros when a customer who matches their job preferences reaches out to them. You set your own lead prices, which are the exact amounts you pay per lead. For Opportunities, where you contact the customer first, you pay the price shown only if the customer responds. Your payment history lists what every lead cost.
How much do Thumbtack leads cost?
Thumbtack publishes no fixed price per lead, as of September 2026. Its help center says prices depend on the type and size of the job, how many pros are available and your market, and you choose how competitive to be by setting your lead prices. The Messages tab and your payment history show what each lead actually cost.
What is a HomeAdvisor alternative for contractors?
The strongest alternative is leads you own: a website with a page for each service and area, and a verified Google Business Profile. Those bring customers who searched for your trade and chose you, with no fee per contact. They take longer to build than buying leads, so running both for a while is reasonable.
